By now most people have come to realize that election interference is nothing new.
And even though it is becoming more obvious than in the past, most people don’t realize how Iran has interfered in our elections in the past and will most likely repeat the process in the mid-terms in November.
And they will also interfere in Israel’s upcoming elections in October.
Cue Up: Flashback to 1979 when 52 American hostages were held by Iran for 444 days, from November 1979 to January 1981.
The Carter administration’s inability to secure their release became a central and damaging issue in the 1980 election. Carter’s poll numbers were devastated as the crisis dragged on.
Sounding familiar?
Ironically (or NOT) this is the object of Iran today.
And this also serves as a perfect foil to overthrow Netanyahu more so than undermine just Trump.
To illustrate how history repeats, in 1979 The Iranians were acutely aware of American politics and used the hostages as a powerful lever.
Simply stated: it worked.
Election Interference Déjà Vu
And it will likely work again because while everyone is focused on a peace plan (that ain’t gonna happen) we believe Iran’s real objective here is being overlooked.
Translation: Despite the best efforts of Trump to try to exit Netanyahu’s unwinnable war on Islam, we have noted that this would NOT be another Venezuela.
Meanwhile, and on a far more serious note, no one is paying attention to the September election in Russia.
And this could easily be far more serious than Iran.
Why?
Zelenskyy’s ongoing attacks deep into Russia are more likely to ensure that the Russian War Mongers gain the majority… and they will want Putin to get serious about finishing off Ukraine.
But, just like the moronic Neocons advising Trump, they seem to believe their own propaganda.
Because they believe if they overthrow Putin, the people will rise up and cheer.
But…and this is a very Very Big Butt…
Unfortunately, our Neocons said the same about Iraq and Iran not to mention Vietnam and Afghanistan.
So, does anyone recall the people cheering them or giving them their mythical tickertape parade?
Sorry/Not Sorry but that ain’t gonna happen either.
And let us not forget the new kids in town…
At this point in time, the best you can do is remain prepared (or get prepared) for WW3 and hope Iran’s election interference won’t be as effective as it was in 1979.
