Key quotes often highlight that truth is the first casualty, designed to maintain control and manufacture consent, with propaganda frequently generated by those not actually fighting.
As we noted in yesterday’s post (before Trump announced there would be a State of the Union Address):
This appears to be building up to Trump’s official “Mission Accomplished” declaration.
So, if the “Mission Accomplished” is true (like George Bush’s statement six weeks into the Iraq war) we would like someone to clarify what the actual mission was in the first place.
And while you are at it, please explain what the exit strategy – the off ramp – is for getting our troops out.

Trump has claimed the “New Regime” in Iran has been asking for a cease fire and that President Masoud Pezeshkian* is much more reasonable to deal with…
(* Please Note: President Masoud Pezeshkian has been Iran’s president since July 2024 – and he’s made public appearances in Tehran, even over the last days. There is not a “new regime president”.)
And amid speculation that he is dead or badly wounded, Iran’s new supreme leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said on X that he “emphatically declare that the consistent policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, following on the path of Imam Khomeini and the martyred Leader, is to continue supporting the Resistance against the Zionist-US enemy.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has responded by saying “there is no truth” to “Trump’s statements that Iran requested a ceasefire.”

State of the Union Address…
We wonder if this impromptu State of the Union Address (announced at 4:11 AM April 1st on Trump’s social media network) was:

An act of desperation to buy time to regroup and possibly get out of Iran…or stall until we get more firepower near Iran so Trump can “bomb them back to the stone ages?”

An Allegorical threat reminiscent of the Passover where the Angel of Death killed all the first born in Egypt?

Or was it the cruelest April Fool’s joke in history?
