In a world where no one wants to be accountable for anything anymore it becomes easier to Blame the Church for most of our problems.
GASP!
Seriously? Blame the Church?
Indeed.
And a quick look back at history will show you how the church – around the world – has dropped the ball when it comes to fulfilling their responsibilities to the world.
Those responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Education
- Healthcare
- Charity
- Taking care of the poor
- Upholding Moral Standards
But this didn’t happen overnight.
And it’s been slowly eroding for several hundred years.
But don’t just take our word for it.
Here’s what Charles Finney – a famous Presbyterian Minister – had to say way back in 1873 in an article titled “The Decay of Conscience.”
“Brethren, our preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours in a great degree. If there is decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses interest in religion, the pulpit is responsible for it. Is Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it. Let us not ignore this fact, my dear brethren, but let us lay it to heart, and be thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of the nation.”
Why We Blame the Church
We are seeing the deterioration of our standard of living as a result of the church abdicating their responsibilities (see above list).
And we have been educated to believe in a lie that morality can be determined and handed down in laws of man.
As a result this has led to an idea that what is good is simply what feels good.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
That is hedonism.
This way of thinking excludes reason, and therefore prevents us from connecting with what is true.
Freedom corresponds to responsibility, taking responsibility, being responsible, and acting responsibly.
Ironically (or NOT) far too many sheeple today are clueless to the idea of responsibility and/or accountability.
And that’s mainly due to the dependence on government handouts from big brother…who is systematically enslaving the population.
As a result, we blame the church for not doing what they’re supposed to do.
At the same time, we agree with how Charles Finney so eloquently explained what should be done to solve the problem:
“…let us lay it to heart, and be thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of the nation.”
The good news is…It’s never too late to turn things around.
And with the Advent of a Third Great Awakening in America, we won’t need to blame the church for our problems.
Read about it in our May edition of “…In Plain English” (HERE).
And share this with a friend…They’ll thank YOU later.
