"It's Not Just About Finance"

Why Thanksgiving is the Best Holiday

When President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday, it was during one of the darkest periods in American history.

At that time, we were killing each other…literally.  Estimates range between 640,000 to 700,000 Americans died on our own soil.

Let that sink in for a moment.

While the Civil War was devastating America it was reported that Lincoln was depressed to the point of committing suicide.

Thank God he didn’t.

Regardless of how bad things get, it takes a special kind of person who – when everything is going against him – makes a decision to be thankful.

More so, his proclamation that we as a nation be thankful, in spite of how bad things were, contributed to the healing process of a war-torn nation.

Roll the clock forward 156 years later and, unfortunately, we’re once again becoming a very divided nation.

This is all the more reason we must be thankful for people like Abraham Lincoln and our founding fathers.

They had the integrity and moral tenacity to live by the standards they set forth for America.  Those standards have enabled us to be – by far – the most prosperous nation on the earth.

And despite how bad the presstitutes make everything out to be, people from all over the world still want what we already have.

The entire staff of Financial$Matter invites you to join us in being thankful – like Abraham Lincoln was – for an Almighty God who has provided for all of our needs.
