In the past I’ve been critical of millennials…especially when it comes to how they depersonalize everything with their use of technology.
My kids tell me: “Dad, you’re just too ‘Old School’ and are missing the point about technology.”
This became obvious to me when they pointed out that Black Friday is “Old School” when compared with Cyber Monday.
After researching the numbers, I realized my millennial children were right.
Black Friday sales numbers have been decreasing while Cyber Monday sales are increasing…exponentially.
When you consider that our millennials represent the future (still SMH…millennial speak for shaking my head) you must also look at the good things they bring to the table.
- They get things done quicker and often more efficiently than their boomer parents.
- They use their electronic devices for nearly everything they do…and not just texting each other over what we consider “nonsense.”
- Their comfort with technology has given us advancements unlike we’ve ever seen before.
Don’t get me wrong here. I’m not abandoning my “Old School” way of thinking.
