Saturday Rant…Afrochemistry?

From the “You Just Can’t Make This Up” category we now have a (once reputable) college (Rice University) offering a course called Afrochemistry.

And according to the young professor, Dr. Brooke Johnson, Afrochemistry is “the study of black-life matter.”

As in, Black Lives Matter. Get it?

And, NO we’re not making this up.

Ironically (or NOT) when I heard that Afrochemistry was a “legit” class I thought as far back to 1970s and could not remember learning about any racial aspects to chemistry. 

And, not surprisingly, despite Dr. Johnson’s doctorate in chemistry, she doesn’t work in Rice’s renowned chemistry department.

Huh?

Nope, Johnson works in the university’s DEI department.

So, instead of us commenting any further we’re turning over today’s rant to a familiar contributor to FinancialsMatter who goes by the handle of PrettyInPink.

James, is it just me. or does anyone else ever wonder how we have become so dumbed down by WOKENESS?

I mean, COME ON!

According to Johnson’s curriculum her Afrochemistry class will instruct her undergrads on how to:

 “…apply chemical tools and analysis to understand black life in the US,” along with her “personal reflections and proposals for addressing inequities in chemistry and chemical education.”

And in addition, she will ask her students thought provoking WOKE questions like:

“What does it look like to do science on one’s own terms?” 

(A question raised in the flyer promoting Chem 125)

Another is, “What does justice look like in chemistry?”

Sounds pretty racist to me.

Or maybe this is the Dr. Johnson’s new science of “Coinciditis.”

You know…like Myocarditis, Pericarditis, Arrhythmia, Pulmonary Embolism, Blood Clots, Stroke, Heart Attack, Neurological Impairment, Turbo Cancer, Guillain-Barre, and Sudden Death that coincidentally and consistently affects the jabbed.

That may seem a bit off topic.

But haven’t we (for the last three Biden Years) been conditioned to “Trust the Science?”

So, now we have more of this “WOKE” garbage to deal with.

This ranks up there with that fraudulent Harvard President (Claudine Gay) getting canned for lying and cheating her way to the top.

Perhaps she should write a letter challenging the legitimacy of Afrochemistry…
