Before trading starts in 2023 (tomorrow) it’s good to reflect on how did you do in 2022.
For the most part it was a tough year for most investors.
And as we referenced how all the indexes performed – and the darlings of Wall Street – including the FAANG stocks, it was easy to outperform them.

For me personally, 2022 was a year where I avoided landmines…and survived to fight another day.
And most of that had to do with investing in Value Stocks that pay a consistent and increasing dividend.
See the list (HERE).
Looking forward in 2023 we believe things will be very difficult.
And it will be especially for investors who live by the “set it and forget it” strategy.
The good news/bad news is that oil/energy most likely crushes everything else.
So, does this mean you should be buying oil stocks?
Hint, Hint…Yes.
But How Did You Do in 2022?
If you’re a subscriber to our “…In Plain English” newsletter you read last year where we suggested you buy oil stocks like XOM and PSX.
And back then they were $65 per share and $74 per share…and were both paid dividends yielding over 8%.
Ironically (or NOT) oils are poised to do even better in 2023.
And a lot of that has to do with the automakers coming out of their stupor and realizing that their electric toys aren’t going to cut it any time soon.
So, if you had only a few big name oil companies, you did quite well in 2022.
But if you followed the herd and stuck with the FAANG’s and Tesla then you’re gonna need some serious help to try and make up those losses.
As a suggestion, you might want to look at Uranium as a speculative play in 2023. (Read our Short and Sweet Tips in January 2023 HERE)
Normally, Uranium should not be correlated with oil.
But as oil recovers, Uranium could be a substitute for the ESG-focused investors.
Bottom line?
As the Political Chaos of 2023 unfolds, there will opportunities of a lifetime for those with ears to hear.
In addition to our favorite “Value Stocks” we’ll highlight some of the alternative plays (Cough! Uranium stocks, Cough! Oil Stocks, Cough! Cough!) in our January edition of “…In Plain English” (HERE).
And we’re also featuring an article to help you learn how to make Volatility your friend.
Share this with your friends…especially if they had a rough year in 2022.
They’ll thank YOU later.
